The Summer is just around the corner, and I believe that a well spent summer involves good skin. If you want to be confident around your friends either camping or swimming, you probably agree that nice healthy skin would make things a lot easier and more fun. So I started my research online, I wanted the best and most simple tips I could find. I found this particular article that honestly I could have not written it better myself so I want to share it with you. These are the tips I will be following this Summer, the only thing that I do that is probably missing here is a healthy diet and exercise, these two together make wonders not only for our skin but for our entire way of living.

What it does: Exfoliation removes dead, dulling skin debris to prevent congestion and improve hydration from toners and moisturizers.

When: Perform in the mornings prior to toner, moisturizer, SPF and make-up application. Tip: Make-up will last longer on an exfoliated skin!

Don’t forget: After you exfoliate, follow with a hydrating body cream to seal in moisture, and always shield freshly exfoliated skin with an SPF (as recommended by the FDA).

How: Up your regimen’s level of hydration with intensive masques, perfect for use one to two times a week. Boosters are a great fit, working best when layered underneath a moisturizer. Toners are a refreshing moisturizer prep, working to even out skin porosity. Tip: Refresh with a revitalizing toner spritz at your desk, in the car, at the gym, on the plane!

Why: Higher temperatures and more time outdoors leads to internal dehydration, which can result in headaches and dizzy spells!

What you can do: Eight 8-ounce glasses of plain, filtered water every day help maintain critical moisture balance of the body and skin, and assist in detoxification. Tip: If you drink caffeinated beverages, you must triple the amount of water you drink!

Recommended:  Plain and pure water!

Why:  It’s not enough to just apply sunscreen. you must apply enough, and apply frequently.   Studies indicate that most people do not apply nearly as much daylight protection as they should.

How much: A teaspoon for the face. For the body, about as much as would fill a shot glass.

How often: Re-apply every two hours. Tip: Stay out of the midday sun from mid-morning to late afternoon whenever you can.

Bonus: Today’s sophisticated formulas and technology let you select sun protection that works with your skin condition. That means you can choose oil-free, mattifying formulas, extra emollient formulas for dry skin, or chemical free formulas for sensitized, reactive skin.

What: You forgot the sunscreen, didn’t apply enough, or got caught in a sunny spell.

What’s next: Unfortunately, the damage is done, but you don’t have to suffer in pain! Super-soothing botanicals and cooling gels can help prevent peeling and reduce redness and inflammation.

How: Apply cooling balms generously over-exposed skin, preferably at the first sight of a pink glow.

Prevent: One blistering sunburn doubles your risk of melanoma -- remember to get a yearly skin exam by a doctor and perform a self-examination once a month to detect early warning signs of carcinomas and malignant melanoma. Look for a new growth or any skin change.

What causes skin damage: UV light causes photoaging in the form of brown spots, coarse skin and wrinkles, whether you have burned your skin or not. When sunlight comes in contact with skin a cascade of damage results (including the stripping of barrier lipids) causing inflammation, production of reactive oxygen molecules that affect healthy cell growth, and stimulation of collagen destructing enzymes.

What to do: A tan may be a popular summer look, but it indicates damage. Bombard your skin with age-fighting ingredients to help undo any damage that may occur, and to further protect it from the aging effects of UV.

Make sure to check out Dermalogica for more healthy skin tips. And if you’re interested in my latest acquisition, Magnitone lucid has been growing online recently; it is a daily cleansing exfoliating brush. It is not too aggressive to the skin, and it's wireless and waterproof, meaning that you can use it in the shower. Thanks to its active electromagnetic technology, (it charges through a magnet system)  if you drop it in the water it will still work. It’s super easy to use, the brand promises that in 7 days our skin will be softer, brighter and cleaner. Everyone is trying this product, my personal opinion? Definitely travel friendly, quick and easy to use, and the magnet technology is what really makes it stand out!

It’s about time to start adding some nice Summer related posts to our Mia section. Look forward for lots of Mia posts as she’s our Summer girl.

I thought it would be a nice way to start by adding some of my self-care routines, so today we are talking about hair.

My hair has always been very thick and strong, when I was a little girl it was dark blonde, and during my childhood I had it long with bangs. Around teenage years it got darker and wavy and with more tendency to get oilier than dry. Today my hair is auburn or light red, depending on the sun. And it gets dry more often than not, so I decided to start taking extra care of it.

I was using several hair products, from heat protector to hydrants and conditioners. My hair was still quite dry and the products didn’t seem to help as much.

Recently I got the opportunity to work with Hairtrade and try one of their products. After a quick research about hair products I found out a lot about Argan oil and I thought this would be a great topic to share with you and mostly try it for myself and see if it really works.

As soon as I got the product I started applying it on my fresh washed hair. As my hair is super thick and dry, the results were amazing. This Argan oil is not greasy, smells better than I expected (somewhat like men’s perfume) and you could apply it in your roots if your hair is that thick, and it wouldn’t look wet at all as most hair oils do.

Now I am not sure if all Argan oils are done the same way, I found out some are organic and some are just 100% Argan with nothing else added. This one I used, Sahar, has botanicals and natural ingredients that help repair and rebuild our hair.

What you need to know about Argan Oil

Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the Argan tree. It has gained a reputation world-wide, both as an ingredient in high-end, personal-care products and as a heart-healthy gourmet product.

Argan oil is proven to make hair softer, silkier and shinier. It also helps to treat split ends and tame frizzy hair. Due to its ability to tame frizz and give hair shine, Argan oil is also commonly used as a styling agent. It makes hair more manageable and adds a healthy, attractive shine to any hair style. This is an ideal step to add to your daily routine after blow-drying. Rub a few drops of Argan oil over your palms and then comb your fingers through your hair to apply.

This non-greasy oil makes for the perfect leave-in conditioner that makes your hair easier to style while repairing those pesky split ends! Argan oil helps to tame frizz and fly-aways, protect against the heat of hair dryers, curlers and flat irons, all the while promoting body and a healthy shine.

There is some research that indicates Argan oil can even promote hair growth, so be sure to rub it in to your scalp too. Depending on the thickness, texture, condition, and length of your hair, you may need anywhere from 1 drop to 3 drops.

Other uses of Argan Oil

Skin care, such as acne, moisturiser, live-in conditioner, skin toner, nighttime moisturiser, exfoliating.

Body, such as, anti-ageing and healing. Pure Argan oil used internally has been shown to fight cancer, cardiovascular disease, and inflammatory disorders. When applied externally, it cures everything from scars to infections to split ends to stretch marks.

Culinary: Scientific research suggests that culinary Argan oil can help to lower cholesterol, improve circulation, stabilise blood sugar, ease pain from rheumatism and arthritis, strengthen the body’s immune system, prevent various types of cancer, reducing the body’s resistance to insulin, helping treat diabetes, protecting the body from cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases.

I hope you have learned as much about Argan oil as I did, I am sure I will finish up my Sahar bottle pretty quickly during the Summer, my hair is already more healthy. Also don’t forget to drink lot’s of water, it is the best medicine and cosmetic we have.

Stay healthy,

What is #ColourMeMarch?
Is a Lady's Day Competition that is connected to a horse racing even in Cheltenham Racecourse. This year they are looking to bring colour to the Festival. Exuberance and class get together to watch the race and show off the best looks. What’s so different? It’s all about colour on Lady's Day! And for the first time ever colour at The Festival will be celebrated and judged via social media only. You can enter the competition on the right. The prizes are donated by different brands and the winner will be chosen at the Festival, so make sure you attend if you’re looking to win!

Get creative without spending a penny, this is the quickest and best looking DIY I could possibly give to you. You don’t have to go on Pinterest and take a day off to switch up the things around your room/apartment. Think twice next time you do your groceries, there’s a huge potential in glass.

4 Types of Glass Containers Already in Your House

1. The Cup of Wax

I am sure you have a candle somewhere in the house, maybe you’re not really using it or maybe you don’t want to burn it till the end because it looks better when it’s full. But if you are like me, chances are you already went through a few in just one month. And once they finish all you have to do in put in under hot water and everything will come off with absolute no effort. The best thing about candles is that you can find them the the prettiest shapes for just a few pounds, and getting double use out of it just makes it instantly cheaper.

2. The Jar of Magic Waking Up Powder

I would say that everyone loves coffee, but if you don’t, there’s still the decaf jar that ends up being pretty much the same. Keep saving these jars they can be useful even in the kitchen.

3. The Creamy & Flavour Containers

From peanut butter, Nutella and jams to olives and pickles there’s a ton of containers made out of glass that can come very handy mostly if they have the same shape. Just save everything and select the ones you prefer accordingly.

4. The Odd One Out

If you just got your glass set recently  chances are this one might not work for you. But the idea is, if all your glasses match apart from one or two, take those two and do something else with them. You can always decorate them, for me I think that the clear and simple looks more sophisticated, however I am sure that if you are an artist with a talent for arts and crafts your’s might end up looking better than mine.

That being said, I hope you can send us your photos with your beautiful containers and if you had another brilliant idea don’t forget to share, I would honestly love to hear it. Share everything with #GlassPotential #SilverGirls
